Cecchinato beats Nardi. Well Zeppieri and Cobolli in Parma

The Sicilian wins in comeback: the tie-break of the second set was decisive. Giulio overtakes Mager, nothing to do for Bonadio and Agamenone

Ceck strikes a shot. Marco Cecchinato wins in the first round of the Challenger of Parma and does so by gritting his teeth, recovering after losing the opening set and winning the second at the tie-break after saving two match-points in the 12th game. At the expense of Luca Nardi: the boy will do, he is already doing – number 186 in the world at 18 – but in Parma he comes out with a bitter taste, with the 6-2 immediately in the third set. Cecchinato returns to success after three defeats: the last victory came in the first round of Roland Garros, against Pablo Andujar. Now the match against Carlos Taberner, seeded number 5.

ZEPPIERI

Cecchinato is the veteran who tries to find himself, Zeppieri the young man on the launch pad. After smelling the smell of great tennis, with the matches played in the main draw in Rome and Paris, Giulio advances to the second round winning – like Marco – a comeback derby: 5-7 6-3 6-2 against Gianluca Mager. “I am working hard with my team to improve the approach to the game, certainly having played important tournaments like Roland Garros has increased my confidence and helps me to grow and improve”, the words of the left-handed 2002 class at the end of the match. For Zeppieri there is now Thiago Monteiro, seeded number 8.

THE OTHERS

Among the Italians Andrea Arnaboldi (6-2 7-6 over Gombos) and Flavio Cobolli (6-3 4-6 6-2 to Martin) also win, while Riccardo Bonadio surrendered (6-2 6-2 for Etcheverry) and Franco Agamenone, defeated with a 6-3 6-3 by Borna Coric, also eager to return to the levels of the past (he was number 12 in the world, now he is 255). Speaking of “big”: after Federico Coria’s exit – seeded number 1 – Hugo Dellien – seeded number 3 – raised the white flag, who should have faced Cobolli. The two Spaniards, Roberto Carballes Baena and Bernabe Zapata Miralles, respectively, defeated by qualified Nicholas David Ionel and Jozef Kovali, also greet the tournament.
