The secret government poker continues. The CDU and SPD continued their coalition negotiations on Wednesday. The point of contention this time: the future economic and scientific policy.

The leaders of both parties met behind closed doors for the second time this week in the House of Representatives. A difficult topic on Wednesday was the financing of Berlin’s universities.

The meeting on Monday included the areas of media, sport, culture and civic engagement.

Another round is scheduled for Friday. Then it is likely to be discussed about health, care, work and social affairs.

Only then do the parties want to provide information about the main results of the negotiations. Four meetings are planned in the final phase next week.

Both parties want to present their coalition agreement at the beginning of April. In the case of the CDU, a party conference decides on the approval, in the case of the SPD, a member survey.
