If it is up to CDA Leiden, there will be a trial with cable duct tiles. These tiles ensure that charging cables of electric cars do not lie on the sidewalk when owners charge their car with their own charging station. In Leiden it is prohibited to charge an electric car with a cord that is rolled out over the sidewalk, because of a tripping hazard.
The tiles have a recess in which the cables can be concealed. Above it is a rubber cover strip that keeps the cable in place. Tests are being done with the tiles in various municipalities. This is subject to the condition that the owner of the car makes use of his own solar panels.
CDA Leiden expects that more and more residents will opt for an electric car in the coming years as a result of the energy transition. “By installing cable duct tiles, the municipality of Leiden can stimulate electric driving,” says duo councilor Annelies van Vark. “This allows the municipality to make a concrete contribution to the energy transition.” CDA Leiden has submitted written questions to the Municipal Executive in which the party is committed to the arrival of the tiles to Leiden.
