Nearly 61 percent of the deceased were older than 80 years. Relatively many 65 to 80-year-olds also died (almost 6200) from the consequences of corona.
Almost half of the corona deaths were chronically ill, frail elderly and residents of nursing homes. From March 2020, the start of the corona pandemic, to December last year, according to the statistical office, almost 40,000 people have died from corona.
