Catherine Keyl (75) makes mincemeat of her TV colleague Gijs Groenteman (48). She thinks it is a shame that he is making a podcast with his mother Hanneke (83). “It’s a bit ridiculous.”
Gijs Groenteman has been very unkind about Catherine Keyl in his podcast. When his mother Hanneke Groenteman remarked that she finds it ‘weird’ to appear in all kinds of programs ‘as an elderly guest’, Gijs exclaimed: “I also think that’s a bit Catherine Keyl-esque. To do everything, shall I say.”
Catherine strikes back
An ugly sneer, but Catherine now hits back hard in the Weekend. “Don’t you think that’s a bit ridiculous? A mother and son together in a podcast. Why would you do that? And do you think that Gijs is independent then? Because of her fame, he has that podcast and of course he can never have an independent opinion about his mother.”
She continues: “So who cares what he says about me? I think it’s ridiculous that according to him I spend too much time in programs. How many programs have I been to lately?”
“It’s chatter!”
Why does Catherine think Gijs is so negative about him? She does have an idea what it is. “Probably a problem with aging, more men suffer from that. I think it’s kind of weird that people act like they’re independently judging TV shows and personalities when this is just mother-son chatter.”
Finally, she gives a sneer at Hanneke’s wrinkled appearance: “What Gijs will probably also find a problem is my appearance, because his mother can’t match that.”
