Catherine Keyl says that, just like Aïcha Marghadi, she has become a victim of Mart Smeets’ haughty behavior. “Such a man dares to say that he is ‘courteous’ to women?!”
Aïcha Marghadi states that Mart Smeets behaved rudely on the work floor of NOS Sport. She told an anecdote about how she wanted to introduce herself to him in front of the entire editorial staff, but he left her standing with an outstretched hand. “What should we do with this?” he then allegedly said.
Catherine stands up
The striking thing is that Mart does not deny this outright, but keeps saying that he can no longer remember it all. In fact, he even claims not to know who Aïcha is and that he is always ‘courteous’ to women. His haughty statements about this during a TV interview with Coen Verbraak have attracted a lot of criticism.
Catherine Keyl now states in her Telegraph column that she too has fallen victim to Mart’s ridiculous behavior. “I have mentioned here before that after the 5 Hour Show and Catherine, I made a program for the Tros, where, due to renovations, I had to walk across the Studio Sport editorial staff to get to the studio.”
‘Mart courteous? No!’
It was Mart who made that very unpleasant for Catherine. “The first evening I said: ‘Good evening everyone’, after which Smeets did not look at me, but asked his editor: ‘What does this mean?’ The same kind of treatment as Aicha Marghadi received.”
Catherine did not doubt Aïcha’s story for a moment. “And such a man dares to say that he is always ‘courteous’ to women?!”
