Both the business and the site had been closed for a year. The business building is located next to the iconic Belvedère observation tower and was opened in 2020 after thorough renovation works.
The tower is also no longer accessible to the public. A few years ago, the municipality and Westtoer invested more than 50,000 euros in it. But a dispute between the owner of the site and the tenant of the catering business meant that it could no longer open. The mayor of Heuvelland says that the tower, which overlooks the Kemmelberg, will be accessible again at the beginning of March.
