The Department of Health has begun to dispense, gradually, the continuous glucose monitoring devices to the patients with type 2 diabetes, dependent on insulin and who need at least six blood glucose checks a day, around 2,500 people in Catalonia.
The ‘conselleria’ will prioritize distribution to the pregnant people or in pregnancy programming and to under eighteen years of age, according to a statement made public this Saturday.

This device is an apparatus that measures glucose levels in the interstitial fluid in real time, offering information that contributes to “increase the quality of life of patients and caregivers”.
Currently in Catalonia, near 20,000 people with diabetes have one of these devices, which means coverage for people with diabetes at higher risk, type 1.
