Singer-songwriter Cat Janice has died at the age of 31 as a result of cancer. She leaves behind a seven-year-old son.
Janice’s family announced her death on social media on the evening of February 28, saying the singer – real name Catherine Ipsan – had succumbed to cancer while “surrounded by her loving family.” Her family continued: “We are eternally grateful for the many expressions of love Catherine and our family have received over the last few months. Cat has achieved unprecedented success with her music and rests in the knowledge that she will continue to provide for her son through her music. This wouldn’t have been possible without all of you.”
They also revealed that, at Janice’s request, her family will be releasing posthumous tracks in her name, with all proceeds going to her offspring.

The TikTok star was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer after noticing a lump in her neck in March 2022. In July 2022, she underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiation and was declared cancer-free. However, in 2023, Janice shared on TikTok that the cancer had returned and announced in January 2024 that she had entered hospice care.
Her viral hit “Dance You Outta My Head,” which she released on Jan. 19, topped the TikTok “Billboard Top 50.” At the same time, the song reached the top 10 of “Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs”. Commenting on the release, Janice wrote on TikTok: “I want my final song to bring joy and fun! This is all I ever wanted during my battle with cancer. Please, please share, I have to [Loren] left to it”.
