Vesa Silver, the trusted stylist of many Finnish stars and artists, reveals the evening wear trends and tells us based on them what kind of outfits we can expect to see.
Shades of red
Stylist Vesa Silver expects to see a lot of shades of red at Linna’s party, because the color institute Pantone named vibrant aniline red as the trend color of 2023.

– Simple outfits are often the most beautiful, says Silver.
The most spectacular outfits now have draperies, i.e. pleated gatherings, which make the outfit look a bit like something borrowed from a Greek goddess. Beautifully draped fabrics also belong to this style. The modern and trendy chooses to wear a long-sleeved outfit more and more often.
Ecology
Ethics and ecology will be seen even more strongly in Linna’s party costumes. Dresses are also rented for the evening more than ever, and recycled materials and costumes are seen in abundance.
– It is no longer trendy to buy an outfit for one evening, which ends up just standing in the wardrobe, Silver reminds.
According to Silver, on the red carpet of the castle celebrations, you can find outfits that have been worn before and have been updated to a new look with, for example, jewelry, decorations or new cuts.
This is how to stretch the label with style
The most exciting outfit at the 2022 Linna party was a ballet dancer Atte Kilpinen seen wearing a pink tailcoat that was designer Teemu Muurimäki handwriting. In Silver’s opinion, Kilpinen broke the boundaries bravely, but elegantly.
– I would like the guests of Linna’s party to take a little risk, but still appreciate the party, the time and the place, says Silver.

As for men, the dress code for Linna’s parties is quite narrow and, according to Silver, the color is the one that can be flashed. You can choose a dark suit or tailcoat decorated with embroidery, for example, or you can fasten the tie with a showy piece of jewelry. According to Silver, this way you can make a basic outfit a little more special and still stick to the dress code.
– It is important that every party guest feels good about themselves. It shines far if someone is uncomfortable in their own outfit. An invitation to Linna’s party might come your way once in a lifetime, if even then, so I think it’s worth taking a risk with the outfit, challenging the dress code with your own style, as long as you take into account the place and value of the party, Silver reminds.
Flirting dresses have been a huge trend in recent years at various awards galas around the world. Silver hopes that every party-goer heading to the President’s Palace leaves the Kim Kardashian-esque revealing dresses at home.
– A showy neckline or a bare back can be really stylish. However, you shouldn’t put all of these in the same outfit. These can be balanced with, for example, long sleeves, Silver emphasizes.
