Cast Les Misérables surprises with Diamond Ticket Award for sales of 125,000 tickets | show

The entire cast of the musical Lesson Miserables is surprised with the Diamanten Ticket Award for the sale of 125,000 tickets. The premiere of the legendary musical is next Sunday, March 5, in the Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam.

For the first time in the Netherlands, the Diamanten Ticket Award was presented for the sale of more than 125,000 tickets for a theater production. Freek Bartels and Vajèn van den Bosch, who in Les Miserables playing the roles of Javert and Eponine, accepted the award on behalf of the cast. ,,It is unreal,” Bartels responds. ,,Before the performance in Kunstlinie in Almere, we were on stage with the cast for a company call. And suddenly Hans was standing there with this award. We knew that sales are going well, but that 125,000 tickets have already been sold was a big surprise to everyone.”

Creative producer Hans Cornelissen says he is pleasantly surprised. “With a week left until the premiere, it is unbelievable that the public already appears to want to see Les Miserables in such large numbers. In addition, we think it’s great that the trade association VVTP (Association for Free Theater Producers) has created these ticket sales related awards. Just like in the record and film industry, the theater world now also has its own awards. And that the cast of Les Misérables received the first one is a great honor.”
