Casino and Conservatoriumplein will be given a green interpretation

There will also be infrastructure for open-air performances at both locations. Parking will have to be done in the new large underground parking garage of the station project. Reactions to the reconstruction are divided.

Softening and greening, these are the key words in the redevelopment of the Casino and Conservatoriumplein in Kortrijk. Now the squares opposite each other provide 150 parking spaces. The city scraps them all and so 4,500 square meters of concrete disappears

The Conservatoriumplein changes into a park with a small amphitheater in the middle. The Casinoplein then takes on the look of a city garden, fairly rectilinear, and here too an element for soaking up culture in the open air. But some traders prefer to see it differently.

The new parking garage is located next to Conservatoriumplein and should open this summer. Work on both squares will then start in the autumn. The reconstruction costs more than 1.3 million euros, just under half of which is subsidized by Flanders.
