Cash, crystal meth and firearms found during police drug operation

During a major police action due to a drug investigation, more than half a million euros in cash, ten kilos of crystal meth and several firearms were found. The police reported on Tuesday that more than forty homes and businesses were searched in various places in Brabant and elsewhere in the Netherlands. Two houses in Spain were also searched.

Together with the FIOD and the Tax Authorities, the police are investigating the large-scale production of and trade in synthetic drugs and the laundering of criminal assets. On Monday, it was announced that nine people had been arrested in the action. It concerns men between 26 and 74 years old from Eindhoven, Best and Oirschot. One of them, a 41-year-old man, was already detained and has been arrested in his cell. The men are suspected of money laundering, the production and trafficking of synthetic drugs and participation in a criminal organization.

With the arrests, the police and the Public Prosecution Service think they have caught some players behind part of a large number of drug labs. A few suspects were arrested at a caravan site on Heezerweg in Eindhoven. Eight homes were also searched.

There have also been searches in homes and businesses in Best, Nuenen, Oirschot, Helmond, Den Bosch, Waalre and Oeffelt. There was also an action in Zandvoort, and two homes in Málaga and Marbella were searched in Spain.

More than a thousand officers, investigative officers and specialists from Defense took part in the action, during which firearms, shotguns and an air gun were found. The police also found more than half a million euros in cash and possibly crypto coins, “sometimes hidden underground or in hidden spaces in and near the search locations.”

The police also came across several types of drugs: small amounts of hashish, cocaine and amphetamine, but also ten kilos of crystal meth and various raw materials that are used in the production of synthetic drugs. Bags full of expensive watches, a large amount of clothing, 136 kilos of fireworks, a number of horses and almost thirty cars and a scooter were also seized.

A drug lab under construction has also been rolled up in Oeffelt. The investigation continues and the police do not rule out the possibility of more people being arrested. The nine suspects have been arrested and are being questioned. They are in complete restrictions which means they are only allowed to interact with a lawyer. They will be presented to the examining magistrate next Thursday.
