cases | Two women’s teams get out of the Tour de Suisse

After the many corona cases at the men’s Tour de Suisse, the female cyclists now also have to complain about the first infections at their edition of the traditional Swiss tour.

In the Ceratizit-WNT team, driver Sandra Alonso and one employee in the Andy Schleck team tested positive for the corona virus. As a precautionary measure and in agreement with the tour direction, both teams dropped out early. Thus, on June 20th, 86 riders started the third stage over 124 kilometers from Vaduz to Chur.

At the end of the men’s tour, three-time road bike world champion Peter Sagan, who had tested positive for Corona for the third time in 18 months, was hit the day before. Before the Slovak, who won the third stage of the Tour of Switzerland, more than 40 drivers had had to end the race because of the corona wave.
