Cases of harassment surprised – Mika Kojonkoski appreciates the Olympic Committee

From 2013 to 18, Kuopio was the head of the Olympic Committee’s top sports unit.

– I haven’t come across any of that.

So sum up Mika Kojonkoski.

From 2013 to 18, he was the head of the Olympic Sports Center of Excellence.

In the spring of 2022, three cases of harassment have come to light in the Olympic Committee.

– I know that the Olympic Committee has focused a lot on good practice, transparency and good governance. I consider the Olympic Committee to be a progressive work community, Kojonkoski estimates.

Following Kojonkoski as the head of the top sports unit Mika Lehtimäki resigned due to a case of harassment a few weeks ago. Weightlifter on the Board of the Olympic Committee Anni Vuohijoki left his seat and said he had acted improperly. The third case is the verbal harassment of a woman by a man working on the sports side of the Olympic Committee.

– This is all pretty surprising. I think the individual cases have formed a bad big picture.

Lehtimäki worked for the Olympic Committee under Kojonkoski in the 2010s.

– When I was involved, there was no sign of that, Kojonkoski commented on Lehtimäki’s misuse.
