Case Rebecca: There MUST be a new lead!

From the BZ editorial team

Will the police make a breakthrough now? For years it was quiet in the criminal case surrounding the missing Berlin student Rebecca Reusch (was 15 when she disappeared). Now the investigation is moving. As the Berlin public prosecutor announced, there was another search in the house of her brother-in-law, Florian R. Means: There MUST be a new clue!

A spokeswoman for the authority said on Thursday morning: “There must be at least one new clue to justify a search.” The search was carried out by a decision of the Tiergarten District Court.

The spokeswoman also said that the re-operation in the house had taken place “some time ago”. The brother-in-law is still accused in the criminal case. He was alone in the house with her for a few hours on the morning of her disappearance.

According to the spokeswoman, traces and evidence are now being evaluated. She did not say what was found in the house in the Neukölln district of Berlin, referring to the ongoing investigation.

The police recently reported that more than 3,000 tips had been received since Rebecca’s disappearance in February 2019. To date there is a lot of information. The spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office did not say whether there may have been a decisive tip recently.

Acoustic measurements

RTL also reports that acoustic measurements are said to have taken place in the house in Berlin-Neukölln. It should be tested which noises penetrate from the inside to the outside.

The search is said to have also found a bathrobe with the belt missing. The connection between this belt and the disappearance of the student is still completely open.

Rebecca Reusch disappeared without a trace on February 18, 2019. The then 15-year-old stayed at the house of her sister Jessica and her husband Florian R. – since the morning there has been no sign of life from her. Despite numerous searches in Brandenburg, a body has not yet been found.

The investigators are pursuing this theory

The police believe that the teenager did not leave the house alive. To this day, her brother-in-law Florian is the only suspect. But because there is no evidence, he is free.

The investigators’ theory: The cook sexually harassed the girl and then killed her to cover up the assault. After the fact, he is said to have driven Rebecca’s body away in his pink Renault Twingo and buried it in Brandenburg.

A camera registered his car on the morning of February 18 on the A 12 to Frankfurt (Oder), also the next day at 10:39 p.m. In a wooded area near Wolzig, residents saw a pink Renault and a man who looked like R. and behaved suspiciously.

Investigators believe that R. came back on February 19 to better hide the girl’s body. Hundreds of people searched the forest and the surrounding waters in March and September 2019. But they found nothing.

However, Rebecca’s family firmly believes in the man’s innocence.
