From tomorrow, fans of the better drawing can go to Knokke-Heist for the 64 edition of the Cartoon Festival. “We see the world shifting to something we could not imagine 10 years ago. Things that happen now, we would have seen ten years ago in disaster films or science fiction. But now that has just become reality,” says curator Christophe Floré.
That is why humor and laughing is the central theme. And freedom of expression is also more compromised, especially since the attack on Charlie Hebdo has changed a lot in that area. Yet the general mood is positive today. Cartoons, they will always continue to exist.
