Carrefour is not the only one to trust Sandbox. Just a few days ago, Warner Music Group announced the creation of a musical theme park in the Sandbox metaverse. This platform seems to appeal to brands. The game from Animoca Brands studios would have already forged more than 200 partnerships with other major advertisers. For Carrefour, several hypotheses are on the table. Mention is made in particular of the possible opening of a virtual supermarket and the sale of certified virtual products in the form of NFTs. Knowing that Sandbox offers its own virtual currency: the SAND.
Why Sandbox appeals to brands?
Sandbox differs from other existing platforms by its character ” open “. Indeed, within this metaverse the content, the economy, and even the governance will be in the hands of the players, creators and users who contribute to the virtual world. crossroads could have chosen another platform like Decentraland.org or Roblox, two other metaverses that are gaining momentum across the globe. For Sébastien Borget, co-founder of Sandbox, insists that “this metaverse whose economy is regulated by players, will extend beyond the game towards fashion, architecture, concerts, art galleries, museums, etc”.
Sandbox recently received funding from 82 million euros to accelerate its development. It is SoftBank which has mainly contributed to this fundraising. The Japanese holding company estimates that “Sandbox unlocks new economic opportunities by allowing users to build and monetize their creations, from avatars and buildings to games and collectibles”. Following this announcement, other brands will certainly look into the subject of the metaverse in the coming months.
