Caroline van der Plas thinks that Yvon Jaspers is afraid of protest groups and that is why there are no more ‘regular’ farmers in Farmer Seeks Woman. “I don’t think they dare anymore. Unfortunately.”
Caroline van der Plas used to be a big fan of Farmer Searches Woman, but since last summer she has had it with the farmer dating show of Yvon Jaspers. She then shouted that the program has become too politically correct, because it rarely contains a regular pig farmer. “No, it’s all organic or arable.”
Caroline drops out
Caroline torched the program again last night in the talk show of Beau van Erven Dorens. “This is the first season that I do not watch,” said the politician. A striking statement from the foreman of a peasant party. “I think I should be transparent about that.”
Why isn’t she watching anymore? “Well, I don’t think it’s a very good picture of the agricultural sector. That’s the reason. It’s all getting a bit ehhh… Let’s say the conventional farmers aren’t really discussed that much anymore. For example, the last time they had a pig farmer was a few years ago.”
‘They don’t dare’
There was a lot of fuss about that at the time, according to Caroline. “Then they received a lot of criticism, for example from Varkens in Nood. I don’t think they dare anymore. I just regret that. You can agree or disagree with animal husbandry, but there are also farmers there who are looking for women. Why are they no longer allowed?”
She doesn’t think the program should go off the air. “I think it’s still a great concept. There is so much negativity in the world and this is just a beautiful, positive program.”
