with videoCaroline van der Plas will not be at the farmers’ protest in The Hague on Saturday. That is what the leader of the BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB) said at the table on a television program on Tuesday evening Inside today.

,,I have decided not to go”, Van der Plas replied when asked if she could be seen in The Hague on Saturday. “Last summer there were threats. After that it remained quiet for a while, but the last week it has been very restless again. A number of things have happened that make me not feel safe enough to stand on stage at such a massive gathering.”

,,That doesn’t mean that I think: I’m standing on that stage and I’m being shot,” she explained her decision further. ,,But the overview is missing for me, I don’t know exactly who all are there. It is not only a protest from farmers, but also from many citizens who are concerned. Of course I can get security, but the mere fact that it would be necessary is a very unpleasant and unsafe feeling for me. I have two sons who want to keep their mother. My mother would like to keep her daughter. I would like to stay with you for a while.”

Farmers Defense Force demonstrates Saturday in the Zuiderpark in The Hague. According to the municipality, a maximum of 25,000 people can participate in the protest. The farmers hoped to come to The Hague with 5,000 tractors earlier, that may only be two, it was announced on Tuesday.
