Caroline van der Plas is back in the media after a short work stoppage due to threats. She sat at the table at Op1 last night and broke down completely over a comedian.

There was a lady sitting at the table who tempted the presenters on duty, Tijs van den Brink and Margje Fikse, to stick their hands in a plastic box full of wasps. Table guest Caroline van der Plas didn’t want to think about that.

Caroline is one of the people who has a wasp phobia. “I’m really nauseous right now. This is really a very big phobia of mine. I’m really scared of wasps. My husband always said to me: ‘Life with you is very restless’, and that was partly due to my wasp phobia in the summer.”
How does Caroline react to a wasp? “So I’m the type that really gets up and runs away, waving my arms. I’m just really really scared about it.”

Long ago, Caroline (55) was stung by a wasp. “I just know exactly how old I was and where I was when I was stung by a wasp for the first time. I was three years old, I was wearing a white dress and standing across the street from my house.”
She continues: “A wasp walked on my inner leg and I didn’t know wasps because I had never been stung. Then I got pricked and from then on I’m scared. I’m not allergic or anything, but it was such an intense experience. I remember that very well.”

Caroline goes completely broke when Op1 starts a fragment of the English comedian Michael McIntyre. He states that there are three types of reactions to wasps: people who wave their hands in the air very coolly, people who sit still for the whole group “not to make the wasp angry”, and people who start running around hysterically. .
