Caroline van der Plas is really pissed off about the criticism of the first episode of Chateau Meiland VIPS, in which she was a guest. “Then I really think: oh my god, you know what.”
Martien Meiland and his TV family are under fire for their new show Chateau Meiland VIPS, in which they interview a different celebrity duo every week. Caroline van der Plas and John de Bever were in the first episode on Monday evening and the whole bunch received an incredible amount of criticism. Critics say it is meaningless and repetitive.
Soap star Caroline
There is also criticism of Caroline because she participates in such a meaningless program. “The politician has become a soap star. The parliamentary work seems like a side issue,” sneers media journalist Mark Koster in De Telegraaf. “She was given free passage at the Meilandjes, a family far away. With the soap family you can chat without facts.”
Alex Mazereeuw, the reviewer for de Volkskrant, is also critical. “A little more distance between shaping and pottery with the Meilandjes doesn’t seem like much to ask for.”
‘Geez miena!’
Caroline does not like that criticism. She reacts quite pissed off camera from Telegraaf reporter Pim Sedee. “Yes, my goodness, can I still breathe? People, can I still breathe? Or is that no longer allowed? Yes, you know, most of the reactions are positive, let me say that, but there are really people of whom I really think: oh my god, you know.”
The BBB foreman continues: “If I’m already making coffee, I don’t know, it’s like: ‘Don’t you have anything better to do?’ Yes, hello, I have a private life too, right? Can I still sleep, can I still eat? Yes, maybe a little less. But that is the question in the Netherlands: what else am I allowed to do?”
Formation process
Wouldn’t Caroline be better off focusing on the formation process? “I’ll tell you: the recordings of the Meilandjes were on January 7 and 8. The formation talks started on January 9, so I hope I can still do things in my spare time. If not, email me: [email protected].”
She concludes: “Just tell me what I am still allowed to do and what I am no longer allowed to do. Then I will make public what most people in the Netherlands think. Yes, sorry, I really think: what is this guys? Please!”
