Caroline van der Plas defends her silent attitude in the TV debate on College Tour. The political leader of the BBB is quite satisfied with her contribution. “Less is more“she indicates.
As the fifth party in the polls, Caroline van der Plas does not always get the opportunity to participate in the debates on television, but she was in the College Tour debate on Sunday evening. However, she was quite silent there and that caused surprise among critics, because the elections are really close.
Less is more
Caroline herself defends her TV appearance in Twan Huys’ show. “What did I think of it myself? Thinking back: I didn’t say much, but what I said was spot on, so I’m satisfied with that. Less is more“, she says in a video X.
In any case, she did better than the great left-wing leader, she thinks. “Frans Timmermans: no knowledge of nuclear energy, does not know what the interest rates are on student debt and at one point he started shouting. I really didn’t think that was good.”
‘Don’t want to bleat’
Telegraaf presenter Pim Sedee asks Caroline about the same debate in another video on X. “If you look at the number of speaking minutes, you actually got to speak very little.”
Caroline agrees: “Yes. First of all, it’s because I was asked almost no questions. One. I would have liked to say a few things about a few topics, but I don’t like to ramble on. That happens very often in debates. Then people start shouting at each other and making points.”
Raise your voice
That’s what Frans Timmermans did too, according to Caroline. “He started to raise his voice at a certain point. Yeah, I just don’t like that. Then I think: I’ll just let it pass me by, because otherwise I’ll really start babbling like: huwueehhue, I also want to say something guys! You know, I’m not like that at all.”
But the elections are almost here, aren’t they? “People know very well what we stand for. When I say something, I try to say it in such a way that it hits the spot. No, that College Tour debate is not like: oh, Van der Plas didn’t say anything, so we won’t vote for her anymore. That seems a bit strange to me.”
