Caroline Tensen unexpectedly stops with her TV hit One against 50. After three years she is going to make One against 100 again and TV critic Tina Nijkamp is very happy with that. “Finally!”
The twentieth season of the Caroline Tensen show One against 100 could not take place in 2020 due to the outbreak of the corona pandemic. Because no more than a hundred people were allowed to be in the studio and a distance of one and a half meters had to be kept, the format was changed to One against 50.
’50 is better!’
Caroline liked it very much and it seemed that One against 50 would permanently replace the original format. “Because fifty is much, much more fun, for everyone. It was a lot, it was impersonal and now we have fifty and we like it so much,” said the presenter at the end of 2021.
But 1 against 100 is a classic that you don’t just throw overboard, right? Yes, the presenter said then. “I still forget sometimes. I sometimes attend the rehearsals of: ‘Welcome to One against 100!’ It’s in my system like that, but we’ll just keep it that way.”
Fierce criticism
The well-known TV analyst Tina Nijkamp was a lot less enthusiastic. “I do understand that the viewing figures have collapsed. The charm of One against 100 was that it was one against a hundred people,” she said last year.
What a miss, Tina said at the time. “Fifty people also makes this format half less fun. Corona rules are over. So why tell me why?“
Still 100 again
Now Caroline announces that One against 50 will be exchanged for One against 100 after three years. “YES it will be One against 100 again”, she writes in her Insta stories.
And Tina let know: “Fortunately, much better!!!”
