Countless carnival princes visited each other on Tuesday evening at the provincial house in Den Bosch for a festive get-together. At the invitation of the King’s Commissioner Ida Adema, they came to the Key Carrier Drinks, as a warm-up for the real carnival party.
It was the twelfth time that the Key Carrier Drinks were held. A toast was made to the feast of feasts with a scrubber. Ina Adema has been named patron of the Brabant carnival federation, and thus of the entire carnival in Brabant.
“I think it’s great that I can receive so many Brabant princes, they will soon form the authority in our province,” said Adema. “It’s nice to see that carnival is so alive here.”
“I don’t have a free evening anymore, you know.”
Prince Arie d’n Urste van Kielegat (Breda) was also present. “It takes a lot of fun to be a prince, and quite a bit of money too,” he said. “You go everywhere and then it’s mainly paying for the drinks.” He makes about 250 visits per season. “I don’t have a free evening anymore, you know.”
The carnival prince of Schorsbos (Schijndel) also agrees: “I’ve been away almost every weekend since the eleventh of the eleventh, but it’s a lot of fun.” He prefers not to talk about the costs. “I haven’t dared to draw up the bill yet, and I don’t think I will,” he says with a laugh.
