Carlotta Dessì was originally from Cagliari. He had lived in Milan for years. In 2020 she received a prestigious award, the Giustolisi Award named in memory of Franco Giustolisi, the most appreciated Italian investigative journalist. Together with other colleagues he had received a special mention for the work done during the pandemic period.
He had collaborated with several television programs of Mediaset groupas Afternoon 5 And Out of the core by Mario Giordano. She last appeared on TV last December, in Rete broadcast4. She had just been released from the hospital. On that occasion she sent a message of hope to all those who, like her, had been affected by one serious illness.
“We must fight, we must not give up. One thing is certain. I am not alone. I have never been alone since the first day I discovered my illness, 4 months ago, in a very hot Milanese summer. Since that day my life has been changed. It changed for me, for my family, for my partner.”

Upon hearing the news of his untimely death, many colleagues expressed their condolences, starting from the management of the Mediaset Group and by the editorial staff of Tgcom24, all close to the family in this moment of pain. Also Barbara D’Urso wanted to remember his correspondent, with a post on social media: “Little Carlottina… For years and years you were my correspondent on afternoon5… In the last few months we have spoken and written to each other many times… And we both thought that you would have it done… I’m very sad and I love you so much.”
