Carlo Boszhard is a big fan of the guys from Today Inside, but he thinks they are really wrong about Marieke Elsinga. “Of course she survives this! I know that for sure after all these years.”
In 2023, television is still extremely lucrative business, so a TV flop is expensive. Very expensive. And yet you can sometimes see them coming from miles away, for example when Marieke Elsinga’s first major solo show was announced. Everything is Music is enough to cry on paper, but in practice it is completely a vale of tears.

The RTL 4 show is so bad that critics wonder how on earth it is possible that this is Marieke’s business card to TV-watching Netherlands. The men of Today Inside even think that the viewer immediately associates her with pulp TV. “This immediately destroys the career of such a person,” says Johan Derksen.
What nonsense, says Carlo Boszhard. The presenter is a big fan of the men of Today Inside, but according to him they are really wrong about this. Although it is of course important to note that Marieke is his colleague at RTL and that are bestie Irene Moors has suffered considerable image damage due to her embarrassing participation in that show.
Rub into stain
Carlo thinks it’s mean that Marieke is written off so quickly. “We live in a time where daily talk shows and show columns continue to rub in a stain. (…) Whether it is the cheating Eurovision duo or the program Alles is Muziek… rubbing and rubbing again”, he writes in his Televizier column.
He continues: “We cannot keep complaining that there are no new programs and then burn it down before the start with a new idea. Everything is Music probably won’t survive. Marieke and the team that worked on it did. I don’t have to gamble for that, I know that for sure after all these years.”
‘so infantile’
Angela de Jong is talking to New Rev a lot more concerned about Marieke’s future prospects. She says: “I would have thought that RTL would do its best to protect one of their big stars, Marieke Elsinga. It saddens me to see what happens to her.”
With her track record in radio, the presenter should have set better requirements for her television work, thinks Angela. “Like: I put my reputation at risk, I want a good program. I don’t understand how the people around her didn’t raise the alarm to guard her image.”
Carlo responds
According to Carlo, however, we should not forget that Angela does not have a monopoly on wisdom either. “You can’t learn what works and what doesn’t. Angela de Jong writes TV columns and we can take her seriously, but luckily she is not a channel boss at RTL 4.”
He continues: “If you came to her with the idea of The Masked Singer, you would be out in three minutes. The Masked Singer is now a world hit in more than 56 countries. I just want to say that you can’t continue learning it, not me, not you.”
