Carlo Boszhard receives no support from Story: ‘We don’t say anything’

Story boss Guido den Aantrekker does not want to confirm or deny that his article about ‘a TV presenter who allegedly assaulted underage boys’ is about Carlo Boszhard.

In the first week of January, The Story reported ‘a TV presenter who allegedly assaulted underage boys’, but would not give a name due to an ongoing investigation. At the end of January, editor-in-chief Guido den Aantrekker did not want to put an end to the ongoing flow of rumors.

Guido responds

Now Gossip talk presenter Jan Roos claims that it is Carlo Boszhard and Yvonne Coldeweijer agrees. Carlo has therefore filed a report against Jan and will also do so against Yvonne.

Meanwhile, all eyes are on Guido: is it true that his Story article was about Carlo or can he disprove that? In any case, he is not happy that Gossip Talk is taking his magazine along. “Yes, that is completely at their own expense, because they involve Story, probably to give their own stories a little more weight,” he responds in Shownieuws.

Reliable sources

Guido still stands behind his story. “Story published a story on Jan. 5 reporting that there were rumors in the TV world – and they came from reliable sources too – that an investigation was being conducted into inappropriate behavior by a presenter towards underage boys.”

He continues: “We have reported this and we have also distanced ourselves in that article in the sense that as long as the investigation is ongoing and it is not at all clear what is going on, you should above all keep some distance about, for example, who it’s alright.”

Pertinent nonsense

The Story was not pressured by RTL to keep this under wraps, according to Guido. “Gossip says that RTL would have put pressure on the Story and my person not to publish anything about it. Well, that is pertinent nonsense and RTL has also announced today that that is absolutely not the case.”

He continues: “As if we as editors-in-chief – and maybe I speak a bit for Bart too [Ettekoven] and his leaf [Weekend] – being pressured into not publishing something. Then we’re probably doing it right. There is none of that. I think it is harmful that they suggest the involvement of Story.”

Is it about Carlo?

But was the Story article about Carlo or not? “Suppose it were Carlo Boszhard and RTL has conducted an investigation… So this happened at the end of last year and at the beginning of this year. Then you would expect that something would have come out long ago.”

Bart Ettekoven: “You don’t want to say that it’s about Carlo, the story you told then?”

Guido: “Bart, we have the policy at Story that, for the reasons I just gave, we don’t name names as long as nothing comes out at all, which includes any evidence. It is not my responsibility to tell who it is.”

Extremely annoying

Doesn’t Guido feel responsible for protecting Carlo if the article isn’t about him? “Look. That Gossip, and apparently Yvonne too, claim that it is about Carlo, is entirely for their account. They say they now have sufficient evidence. They both say they get a lot of tips. Well, good for them.”

“I think it’s very annoying for Carlo, especially if it’s not the case. Well, he has now filed a report. And as our colleague Evert said yesterday: why don’t you just file summary proceedings? That goes faster, but someone can have their own reasons for that and Carlo will know them himself.”
