After the fierce criticism from outside, Carlo Boszhard is indeed a lot less hysterical in The Masked Singer. The corners of his mouth did not move even an inch during the last broadcast…
There has been a lot to do: the extremely hysterical way in which Carlo Boszhard sat behind the desk of The Masked Singer for years. Every time a celebrity came out of a suit, the corners of his mouth almost split open. As if he saw a UFO land in the studio. It was really a bit exaggerated and many people found that suspicious.
Practiced emotion
Many viewers wondered at one point whether Carlo was simply acting out such a reaction and media critic Victor Vlam came up with the answer: he says so. “This emotion just seems to have been practiced in front of the mirror. It appears to be made to be screenshotted to be placed above articles about The Masked Singer,” he shouted.
Carlo himself promised improvement a few weeks ago in an article with De Telegraaf. “Boszhard promises to listen to the people who find him too surprised to react to the revelations,” the newspaper said.
Action by word
It seems that Carlo puts his money where his mouth is: last weekend Anniko van Santen came out of such a suit on The Masked Singer and the presenter’s lips did not move even an inch. The corners of his mouth remained so calm that even the Mona Lisa would be jealous.
How does he react now? Carlo spreads his arms, opens his palms upwards and looks intently at his fellow panel members. First to Monica Geuze to his right, then to Loretta Schrijver to his left. Their mouths do move and open quite wide, but Carlo keeps his mouth really closed.
Less hysterical
So Carlo seems to be keeping his promise. “I understand the criticism. You just have to imagine that after a long evening we only record the reveal of a character around midnight. If we have guessed someone correctly, I will go crazy,” he recently explained.
There is now little left of it. The Masked Emotions…
