Carlo Boszhard does file a report, but does not institute summary proceedings against Jan Roos and Yvonne Coldeweijer. This is very telling, thinks columnist Jan Dijkgraaf. “What those celebrities do is: save time.”
Jan Roos and Yvonne Coldeweijer state that the Story article about ‘a TV presenter who allegedly assaulted underage boys’ is about Carlo Boszhard. The RTL 4 presenter is so furious about this that he immediately reported libel and slander. Many people wonder why he doesn’t just demand rectification in summary proceedings.
‘Why only declaration?’
Private boss Evert Sankrediets is one of the people who questions this. “What is it with filing a report these days? Why not just summary proceedings? As I have experienced so many times. Then you can fight it out in court tomorrow. Carlo has not yet wanted to respond to that.”
He continues: “You can see from Marco Borsato how long it takes to file a report. I think that was in October and we haven’t heard anything since. If this were said about me and I was Carlo Boszhard, I would just say: ‘I want this out of the world as soon as possible.’ What’s the point with filing a report all of a sudden?”
gain time
Jan Dijkgraaf states that distrust is in order if celebrities announce that they will report defamation and slander. “Whether that report will lead to prosecution is very uncertain,” he says in his column 99 Words†
It takes a very long time before such a case is served, if there is a prosecution at all, Jan knows. “What those celebrities do is: save time.”
Afraid of proof?
Natacha Harlequin previously explained that Carlo can also file a report and initiate summary proceedings. According to Jan, it is a sign on the wall if a Dutch celebrity does not choose to demand rectification in summary proceedings.
Jan: “They would always win in summary proceedings. And fast too. Unless… they’re afraid there is indeed evidence. Do you understand?”
Yvonne
Before Carlo announced that she would report to Yvonne, she expressed the expectation that the RTL 4-star would not go to the police at all.
Yvonne: “He has so much on his plate, I think he’s watching out.”
