Carlo Boszhard does not recognize the criticism that he facilitates transgressive behavior and tortures candidates of his program Married At First Sight. “I do not think so.”
There has been a lot of unrest about Married At First Sight, the unethical entertainment program in which Carlo Boszhard gets complete strangers married. They think that scientists select the perfect match for them, but nothing could be further from the truth: Eveline Stallaart and her fellow TV makers seem to prefer explosive TV.
What does Carlo think?
What does Carlo himself think of all that criticism? Reporter Jordi Versteegden asks him in one Telegraph video: “There is a lot going on about Married At First Sight.”
Carlo: “Yes, but that is also part of such a program. Things are said that make me think: this is going very far.”
Jordi: “Like?”
Carlo: “You can look that all up yourself. You can do that very well. I don’t want to repeat that either.”
‘There is always commotion’
The criticism of Married At First Sight is downplayed by Carlo. “That is also what is always the case with that program. There is always commotion. I believe that De Telegraaf plus the AD have never published so many articles about a program.”
Jordi: “I know what you mean in terms of articles. There are people who believe that psychological torture is being used by the makers. Do you agree with that?”
‘Do not agree with’
Carlo does not believe that he tortures TV candidates. “No, I don’t think so, but that is up to those people, so they have to say that and think so. You can’t protect yourself against that either. When I say this interview was psychological torture… Yes, it can be said.”
He concludes: “There is also room for criticism. I don’t agree with some of the criticism at all, but I let it go. Do you mind?”
