Carlo Boszhard confesses live on television that he is a man with right-wing ideas. He looks at his somewhat politically correct host Renze Klamer and asks: “Do I have to leave now?”
TV entertainers who work for commercial broadcasters and rake in a lot of money often vote VVD. Not only because they want to protect their high income, but also because they often rent out properties and do not want an overly socialist housing policy. However, they do not flaunt that voting preference for fear of damage to their image.
VVD voter Carlo
Renze Klamer asks Carlo Boszhard last night in his talk show Renze on Sunday however, straight to the point: “Are you a VVD voter, Carlo?”
Carlo: “Yes, I was asked if you could ask that and then I said: ‘Yes, of course.’ You look at me now with a smile.”
Renze: “Yes, I do that.”
Renze remains silent
Carlo bounces back the question: “What did you vote for?”
Renze does not want to make any statements about that. “Yes, I would never say that.”
Carlo: “Is it harmful to your image to say that?”
Renze: “I think it would be better if it was simply not known.”
Many talk show presenters prefer not to have their political preferences known, otherwise they fear being constantly framed as someone who is very progressive or very conservative.
‘Do I have to leave?’
Carlo jokes: “I feel very pressured. I want you to apologize. Hahaha.”
Then the presenter admits his right-wing vote. “No, it’s true. I had some doubts. I actually came up with the Splinter party, but they didn’t make it. I voted for the VVD, yes. Well, should I leave now?”
Renze doesn’t have to do that. “No no no. Do you support what Gijs calculates as a majority?”
He is referring to a cabinet of PVV, VVD, NSC and BBB. Carlo: “I think you should just rule, of course. Do it. There is work to be done.”
