Carlo Boszhard immediately called John de Bever after the ugly sneer he gave the folk singer. “A nice and friendly conversation that immediately cleared the cold.”
For Carlo Boszhard it was hard to swallow that his TV show Make Up Your Mind was not nominated for the Gouden Televizier-Ring this year. He found it incomprehensible that a random reality series De Bevers was in the running, purely because John de Bever and his partner Kees conducted such a large campaign.
‘Sour’ Carlo
Carlo’s swipe at De Bevers was not appreciated. John indicated that he found the criticism to make no sense. Private boss Evert Sankrediets even called Carlo a ‘little sour’.
How does Carlo look back on this affair? He writes in his Televizier column: “When the morning of the Gala it was reported in the Telegraaf that according to the Beavers I was spreading nonsense about their nomination, I immediately called Kees Stevens, manager and friend of John de Bever.”
Cold from the sky
How did that conversation go? “A nice and friendly conversation that immediately cleared the cold. My question marks about their promotion was not personal, but it was food for the media.”
It’s a bit inflated by the media, Carlo thinks. “My own fault, I’ve been around long enough to see the consequences of that. I understand that quarrels are magnified.”
“On the night in question there was only respect for each other. And so does the Ring.”
