Carlo Ancelotti wants to ‘make history’ with Real Madrid

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti wants to extend the record of 13 Champions League titles with the Whites on Saturday.

“We know what this club and its history is asking of us. It was very important for us to come here. Now we are ready to make history after a very good season,” said the Italian one day before the final against Liverpool FC (9 p.m./ZDF and DAZN).

Ancelotti himself can also make history and become the first coach to win the Champions League for the fourth time.

“I’m still very calm. It might look a little different tomorrow afternoon. When I look at the faces of the players, it gives me a lot of confidence,” said the former Bayern coach.

Ancelotti had won the cup with AC Milan (2003, 2007) and Real (2014) as a coach, and also as a player in 1989 and 1990 with Milan.

The Spanish champions’ starting XI for Saturday has already been decided, he said: “But I haven’t told my players yet. They shouldn’t think so much about what could happen, just enjoy it.”
