Thousands of Volkswagens, but also Porsches, Audis, Bentleys and Lamborghinis would be brought to the United States by boat from Emden, Germany. The ship eventually sank as it was ravaged by violent waves. That came as a surprise to the shipping company, says a spokesperson.
The crew was taken from the ship during the fire, leaving the Felicity Ace rudderless in the Atlantic Ocean. According to the shipping company, there is no oil pollution in the region yet.
The cars are probably all lost. It is estimated that the cars on the ship were worth 393 million euros.
