Carel Eiting will not participate in the practice match between FC Volendam and KV Kortrijk on Saturday afternoon. The captain of the Volendammers reported ‘sick’. With this he seems to want to force a transfer to FC Twente.
Eiting has been emphatically on FC Twente’s radar for a long time. The club confirmed against NH Sport on Thursday that Eiting is now stuck in Volendam until mid-2025. The Volendam team has extended his contract by one year. The captain seems to disagree with that and now this new chapter in the transfer soap follows.
‘Unacceptable offer’
The Tukkers previously offered 400,000 euros for the midfielder, but that was decisively swept off the table by technical director Jasper van Leeuwen. “It is true that we have received a wonderful and for us unacceptable offer from Twente for Carel,” Van Leeuwen previously said to The Telegraph. “That wonderful and unacceptable also applies to the course of action.”
Eiting has been playing at FC Volendam since last summer. He started his career at Ajax and ended up in the fishing village via Huddersfield Town and KRC Genk. Eiting played 35 matches for FC Volendam last year and scored three times. In addition, the captain gave eleven assists.
