Care for seriously injured must be better: ‘Deploy helicopters more often and go directly to the right hospital’

Seriously injured patients still too often do not end up in the hospital where they can best be treated. That is what Loek Leenen says in his farewell speech that he gave this week after working more than thirty years as a trauma surgeon. He argues for a concentration of acute care in five instead of the existing eleven trauma centers in the Netherlands.
