In MotoGP, every detail makes the difference and even the diet plays a decisive role. Just think of prolonged efforts, which require energy and toned muscles. But how does a pilot feed himself? Everyone has their own routine and different tastes at the table, sometimes even in the family, as the Espargaro brothers demonstrate. Aleix, Aprilia standard bearer, and Pol, Marc Marquez’s companion in Honda, talked to the official MotoGP channels, explaining their eating habits.

The revelation of the 2022 World Championship is Aleix, winner of the Argentine GP and main pursuer of Fabio Quartararo in the standings. The 32-year-old Spaniard divided his diet in a precise and schematic way according to the times of the day: “In the morning for breakfast I always eat oat porridge, with red fruits and banana. Then at noon, a plate of white rice. And in the evening I prefer chicken and vegetables. If I load carbohydrates well at midday, I eat protein for dinner ”.

Aleix does not have a look linked only to his own life as an athlete. For example, he is a huge fan of Japanese cuisine, to the point of creating a chain of restaurants specializing in the typical dishes of the Asian country. In common between his work as a pilot and the new activity there is an obsessive attention to nutrition: “Following a healthy diet is mandatory for everyone, especially if you are an elite athlete. After all, it is your gasoline, the body moves better or worse. When I don’t eat well, I have no energy ”.

For some time, Aleix has reduced his intake of meat and fish following the example of his brother Pol. The Honda rider, in fact, has chosen a diet mainly based on vegetables for one reason: “The team tries to lower the weight of the bike with lighter bolts or carbon. The rider can also do the same by looking at the total weight. One day I asked myself what I could do to improve and I started hearing about vegetarian and vegan diets ”. The change brought immediate results: “I started three years ago and it helped me to slightly deflate the muscles. They carry much more water, they are much lighter ”. A solution that further helped Pol to emerge in MotoGP.
