Car with heavy firearms found at Van Quickenborne home: three people arrested
As part of the investigation, three people were arrested in the Netherlands last night.
The federal prosecutor’s office was informed of a possible threat during the course of last week, after which an investigation was immediately launched. That is entrusted to an investigating judge of the judicial district of West Flanders. “The first elements of that investigation quickly showed that this threat had to be taken seriously,” it says.
Increased security
The National Crisis Center immediately decided to place Van Quickenborne under increased security. Details about that measure will not be disclosed, but it does imply that the minister will not be able to participate in a number of planned activities in the coming days.
The federal prosecutor’s office confirms that three people were arrested in the Netherlands in the investigation into the threats last night. It demands their surrender to Belgium.
In the meantime, the investigation continues. “It is evident that there will be no further communication about this for the time being,” concludes the federal prosecutor.
According to our information, the threat comes from the drug environment. At the explicit request of the minister, we do not show video images of the action at his home, because of his safety and that of his family.
