A 19-year-old man from Helmond crashed his car into a house on Wethouder Hamacherplein last night. He was chased by police because he ignored a stop sign. The house is severely damaged. The driver was under the influence of drugs and did not have a driver’s license.
The police saw the suspect driving in his car through Wethouder Ebbenlaan in Helmond around a quarter to four at night. He stood out because the license plates were attached to his car with duct tape. When officers wanted to check him and signaled a stop, the driver fled. The police then gave chase.
The suspect was chased through Helmond for a while. When he drove into a dead end street, things went wrong. He crashed into a house on Wethouder Hamacherplein. The house was severely damaged. Part of the roof collapsed and the house needs to be propped up.
Climbed over fence
The car came to a stop against the house, but that did not stop the Helmond. He threw open the door and took off running. The suspect climbed over a fence and entered the garden of a house. When he tried to climb over another fence, an officer managed to pull him off.
The man appeared to have a number of bags of drugs with him and, according to the police, was also under the influence. In addition, the suspect did not have a driver’s license. He has been arrested and is still in custody.
