The A27 will be closed in the direction of Gorinchem on Friday evening after a violent collision near Geertruidenberg. A car that was driving on the emergency lane during a traffic jam collided with a truck at high speed. One of the occupants has fled and is still being sought.
The other occupant was injured and was taken to hospital by ambulance. He’s been arrested. Among other things, a police helicopter is searching for the fled suspect.
Officers who were stuck in traffic on the highway saw the accident happen. They saw the car driving on the emergency lane, after which they decided to follow the car. The officers then saw the car collide with the truck.

Traffic is advised to drive through the detour. This is possible via Eindhoven (A58 ).
In the afternoon it was also hit on the A16 towards Rotterdam, which was closed until eight in the evening. That led to many traffic jams in West Brabant, where things went wrong again on the A27 later in the evening.
