Car launched over guardrail and overturned, possibly nitrous oxide in play

On the N69 between Valkenswaard and Bergeijk, a car was launched via the wooden crash barrier on Monday evening, flipped over and came to a stop about eighty meters away. There were two men in it, one of whom quickly took off, possibly carrying a leaking nitrous oxide cylinder. A balloon was found next to the car. The driver was taken to a hospital by an ambulance.

The accident happened around a quarter past eight. Passers-by helped the men out of their plight and they told a 112 correspondent that they had heard a hissing sound. They were afraid the car would explode. That didn’t happen.

The people who had come to the rescue did see that a passenger took some things from the car and ran away in a southerly direction. The car had a Belgian registration. He is currently missing.

The wreck has been towed away. The road was closed to traffic in both directions due to the accident and the deployment of, among other things, a recovery company.
