A motorist ended up in the water on Saturday evening after he left the N2. This happened at the exit to Eindhoven Airport. The driver suffered minor injuries.
According to a witness who drove behind the car on the N2, his predecessor would have spontaneously left the road. The vehicle came to a stop in a full ditch. Miraculously, the victim was not seriously injured. The driver of the car was taken to hospital for a check-up.
The police took a breathalyzer test from the driver. This showed that the driver may have consumed more alcohol than allowed. The police accompanied the driver to the hospital for a blood test.
During the salvage of the car, some items had to be removed from the other side of the ditch. Because the emergency services present did not have the right equipment for this, the Royal Netherlands Air Force fire brigade came to the rescue. The employees of the air force base came with a tanker syringe to transfer everything. The exit was closed while the accident was dealt with.
