A car ended up upside down in the water next to the Hoofdweg in Hoofddorp last night. The driver (27) was pulled out of the water by a bystander and is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, a police spokesperson said.
The accident happened around 11:20 p.m. The driver, a 27-year-old man from the municipality of Velsen, is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. Blood tests must show whether this is actually the case.
The fire brigade was deployed to tow the car from the water. The driver was taken to hospital for evaluation.
