The accident happened near the bridge over the Volaardestraat. A 22-year-old woman was driving towards Lebbeke when she suddenly lost control of her Jaguar on top of the bridge. The vehicle ended up on the verge and then flew through the bushes to come to rest on its roof a few meters below on a narrow country road. The owner of a nearby transport company was just parking a vehicle and heard the crash. He immediately went to take a closer look and notified the emergency services. They had to free the victim from the car. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
