The accident must have happened just after 6 a.m. this morning. The car ended up in the water just before the pedestrian and cyclist bridge between Nieuwbrugkaai and the park on Veermanplein. “The emergency services were already present at half past seven,” says an eyewitness. “The car was still in the water at the time, and divers from the fire brigade attached it to a crane. Ten minutes later the car was hoisted up. an occupant out of the car.”
The victim was immediately resuscitated, but died. A law doctor and a traffic expert have been appointed to investigate the accident.
