There it is. The Saab 9-3 1.8 Estate. In front of the stairs of Huis ten Bosch. The Saab that Mark Rutte has been driving since 2009 will be there on Saturday, while he offers the resignation of his fourth and last cabinet. “This is a unique opportunity for us”, Dirk Koppen thought when he saw a photo of that moment.
Dirk Koppen owns Saabpartners, a dealer in Meppel where they convert old Saabs and give them a new lease of life. That Saab from Mark Rutte, Dirk would like to have it. With a full-page ad in it Financial Daily he hopes to get the outgoing Prime Minister to do so. “If Mark really responds personally, then we will just do it, of course. Nothing more.”
The idea for the advertisement came spontaneously, says Koppen. “I drove a rally, in a Saab of course, with the club. Meanwhile, the reports came in that the cabinet had fallen. I saw the photo passing by that the famous Saab van Rutte is standing in front of the stairs of Huis ten Bosch. I immediately received all kinds of thoughts. Coincidentally, I know someone who is an advertiser. I showed the picture and we were out right away.”
