Two people died in an accident on a country road in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district on Wednesday afternoon.
They were in a car that crashed into a tree and immediately caught fire, a spokesman for the Brandenburg situation center said. A third person from the vehicle was rescued and taken to a hospital.
The accident happened shortly after 5 p.m. between Klosterheide and the Banzendorf junction. It was still unclear why the car left the roadway – as was the identity of the three occupants. The highway around the accident site was closed for several hours.
