A car driving along Laan van Athene in Alkmaar last night veered out of the bend and crashed into a tree. The vehicle then caught fire. The two occupants, a man and a woman, were injured.
The car started to smoke and then quickly caught fire. This happened near the Mulderij. Police, fire brigade and two ambulances quickly arrived at the scene of the accident after the report around 3.40 am.
Two ambulances took the injured man and woman to hospital. The car, which was now on fire, was extinguished by the fire brigade.
