Car crashes into house, driver was under the influence of drugs and alcohol

A 28-year-old motorist crashed his car into a house on Bredaseweg in Tilburg, opposite the cemetery, on Saturday night. It went wrong around five o’clock while making a turn at the intersection of the Schouwburgring with the Bredaseweg.

According to a 112 correspondent, the driver drove at high speed and lost control of the wheel. He hit a curb with the car. As a result, a wheel of the car broke. Then the car came to a stop tens of meters further on the other side of the road, against the house.

A bicycle was parked in front of that house. Not much was left of it after the collision.

Total loss
Because of the crash, the police and fire brigade came to Bredaseweg, but the residents of the house appeared to have suffered no injuries.

The driver and the woman who was in the car with him took off after the accident, but could still be arrested on Korvelseweg.

The man has been arrested by the police. A saliva test was taken from him. He tested positive for the use of hard drugs and was also found to be under the influence of alcohol.

The car is a total loss, the damage to the house seems to be not too bad given the circumstances. There is no risk of collapse, according to the fire service.

Race track
The Bredaseweg is known to many local residents as a true racetrack. At the end of 2016, at almost the same place where the crash took place on Sunday morning, a 62-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman from Rijen were killed while crossing the road. Faisel D. was convicted for this. The judge states that he drove too fast and was not paying attention, otherwise he should have seen the victims.
